Description

The Gilman Scholarship Program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go by offering awards to US undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints.

This year, over 2,700 Gilman scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded. You can win this award, and we can help you.

During the workshop, you will have your own computer station and will actually begin the application process: creating a login, filling out some of the online portion, and then drafting some or all of the 2 essays that make up the bulk of the application. One of the essays is similar to what you've already submitted to CGIS. The other is about a project you will do after your return from your time abroad, and we will help you brainstorm about what type of project would work best for you.

By the time you leave, you'll be in great shape to complete your application in the coming week. The spring/summer deadline (Gilman just says "summer") for Gilman awards is Tuesday, March 1.

We will provide pizza and other refreshments. And you will receive a listing of other study-abroad scholarship awards that might interest you.
